Public policy
Encouraging public policy development is vital to saving our wetlands for tomorrow - today.
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is committed to conserving one of Canada’s greatest resources, wetlands, for waterfowl, other wildlife and people. DUC’s public policy team works to effect positive change and bring wetland conservation to the forefront with all levels of government.
Public policy is an important tool in habitat conservation. DUC staff in every province participate in and contribute to the policymaking process and ensure that DUC’s conservation message is represented in legislative actions and government financing initiatives.
Our work focuses on:
- Developing landscape conservation and restoration programs both in agricultural landscapes and in Canadian forests that are important for wetland and waterfowl conservation.
- Providing information that can be used in the development of national and provincial wetland and watershed policies and strategies.
Using scientific research, habitat conservation, and education programs in conjuction with helping to develop public policy, DUC is conserving our valuable wetlands.
Unfortunately, wetlands continue to vanish.
As much as 70 per cent of Canada’s wetlands have been lost in some areas of the country. We need to act now to stop wetland loss. Learn more about how you can help conserve Canada’s wetlands for tomorrow…today!
