Ducks Unlimited Canada is pleased to announce that Clint Jammer has been named as the 2003 DUC Artist of the Year for his painting Silent Passing.

Raised in the Port Perry, Ontario area, Jammer has been drawing and painting since he was a small boy. His passion and love for nature and the great outdoors soon manifested itself through his art. Among his favorite outdoor pursuits are fishing, portaging, camping, skiing, snowmobiling, photography and forestry. After moving to a country estate with his fiancée, Jammer has spent the last year re-inventing his artwork and now says, "I have never been happier."

The inspiration for Silent Passing was gathered during a summer morning paddling excursion on a northern lake. There is perhaps no greater symbol of the north than a pair of loons silently passing by a massive rock outcropping adorned by the sun's reflections which Jammer says drew his attention immediately when combined with the deep, lush forest.

Each year DUC invites submissions from artists for possible inclusion in DUC's National Art Print Program. Categories include National Artist, Portfolio Artists, and a Wildlife Stamp Artist.
