Conservator writers win Outdoor Writers of Canada awards

North Bay, Ont., June 9, 2007—Two writers that had their work featured in Ducks Unlimited Canada’s Conservator magazine have taken home prizes in the 2007 Outdoor Writers of Canada (OWC) National Outdoor Communications Awards run annually by the Outdoor Writers of Canada.

The competition attracted entries from across Canada and the U.S. Awards were presented at the organization’s annual convention held this June in North Bay Ontario.

Outdoor writer Michael Hungle of Regina, Saskatchewan placed second in the Wetlands Appreciation Awards for his story: The Land of the Living Skies.

Meanwhile, Bruce Masterman of High River, Alberta, took third place in the Magazine Feature Hunting category, with his story: Hunters and Dogs: The Special Tie That Binds, published in The Conservator's Waterfowling Heritage Issue (PDF, 1MB).

Cochrane, Alberta writer, T.J. Schwanky took first place in the Wetlands Appreciation category, sponsored by Ducks Unlimited Canada, with his story: Ode to a Wetland, published in Alberta Outdoorsmen.
