Ducks Unlimited Canada’s Mission and Vision

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) envisions Canada as a nation that can sustain use by people and wildlife without endangering the amount or functions of natural lands. DUC leads wetland conservation for waterfowl, other wildlife and people in North America.

DUC is private, charitable, non-profit and completely Canadian owned and governed. DUC is part of the larger Ducks Unlimited family, which has representation in both the United States and Mexico.

DUC’s Mission

All Ducks Unlimited organizations conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.

DUC’s Vision for Canada

DUC is working to achieve a mosaic of natural, restored and managed landscapes capable of perpetually sustaining populations of waterfowl and other wildlife.

Partnerships are Essential to DUC’s Success

DUC is a proud program partner of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP). NAWMP is considered one of the most successful conservation organization initiatives in the world. This international agreement unites federal, provincial/state and municipal governments, non-governmental organizations, private companies and many individuals.

The common goal is to achieve better wetland habitat for the benefit of migratory birds, other wetland-associated species and people. Canadians who work with DUC are committed to our conservation goals for Canada.

DUC members, DUC volunteers, landowners, teachers and researchers are all helping to achieve these goals. Their commitment to wetland conservation fuels DUC’s success. For that, all Canadians are indebted.
