This Northwest Territories project borders the Richardson Mountains to the west, the rolling tundra to the east and the beautiful Mackenzie Delta to the north. Work on this project began in 2001.

This Northwest Territories project borders the Richardson Mountains to the west, the rolling tundra to the east and the beautiful Mackenzie Delta to the north. Work on this project began in 2001.
Status:
2002
The vegetation landcover field work was completed and delivered to all project partners in November of 2002. The project area includes about two-thirds of the Mackenzie Delta, Canada’s largest, and sits at the mouth of the Mackenzie River.
2003
The third and final year of waterbird surveys and water chemistry sampling were completed this summer.
2004
An interim annual report is expected by spring 2004, with a final three year report to follow. The data is expected to confirm and help identify critical waterbird habitat for migration, breeding and molting in this northern area of the Northwest Territories.
