Research Proposals & Fellowship Grants

New knowledge provides fuel that assures that conservationists are always aware of, and able to adapt to, a changing world. The Institute for Wetland and Waterfowl Research (IWWR) recognizes that our partnerships with North America's universities are essential for the achievement of this goal. Not only does the funding of graduate research projects ensure the continued development of highly skilled professionals in wetland and waterfowl conservation biology, it also allows us to move beyond the restraints of provincial, state and national borders when pursuing new knowledge that will help guide conservation programs across North America. Since 1991, the IWWR has funded more than 240 research projects and worked with over 100 students from universities and agencies throughout North America.

Research Proposals

Research proposals from graduate students enrolled at recognized universities and from scientific colleagues within the scientific community must be submitted for review by November 21st each year. The proposals, no more than 10 pages in length, should describe the basic research idea, rationalize its importance, suggest how it will be accomplished, and provide an estimate of the resources the project will require. The link below details the procedure that the IWWR uses to receive and review research proposals.
