Llwellyn M. Armstrong

Statistician

Llwellyn Armstrong has been the statistician for the Institute for Wetland and Waterfowl Research since 1998. She consults extensively with staff on issues of study design, sampling methodology, and statistical analyses and helps ensure that the results of analyses are appropriately disseminated. As the need arises, she also conducts research into the use of innovative biostatistical techniques.

For most of Armstrong's tenure with IWWR, she has been involved in a multi-disciplinary team whose chief mandate has been to develop a Decision Support System for field staff to help them decide where and how DU habitat programs should be implemented. Current projects also include pair density modeling for the Western Boreal region, developing a waterfowl productivity model for Southern Ontario, and mid-study evaluation of data collected through the Spatial and Temporal Variation in Nest Success of Prairie Ducks Study (SpATS).

Armstrong is a member of the Statistical Society of Canada, American Statistical Association, and International Biometric Society.
