Project Webfoot—An Investment in Environmental Education

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is committed to wetland conservation. A key part of our conservation mission is to educate young people about the value of wetlands through Project Webfoot.
Project Webfoot is an international, interdisciplinary, curriculum-based wetland education program. The main focus of Project Webfoot is to provide Grade 4 classes in Canada (Grade 5 in Alberta) with exciting and informative learning materials and wetland field trips. These opportunities are also available for youth groups.
Sponsor A Class Today
In order to provide these valuable opportunities to students across Canada, we need the help of sponsors like you. By becoming a sponsor of local classes through Project Webfoot, you’ll not only be supporting your community, but the environment.
It’s an investment that will pay dividends for you, the students, your community and the environment for years to come.
For only $300, you can adopt a class of your choice and provide the students with a valuable educational resource kit developed by professional educators. The kit is packed with exciting, curriculum-based wetland education materials that include:
- A teacher’s guide of wetland activities that can be incorporated into a variety of subject areas, including reading, science, math and art
- A Marsh Monsters sheet to help students identify wetland organisms
- An activity book full of fun and educational activities for students
- A wetland values poster and lesson plan booklet
- Official Project Webfoot certificates for the class and their sponsor
- A video on wetland values
- A waterfowl ID CD and booklet
On top of all that, each student will receive a copy of Marsh World, an in-depth and comprehensive wetland guidebook, as well as a sheet of colourful wetland foodweb decals.
Plus, every student in the class will be enrolled in Greenwing, DUC’s youth membership program. Through Greenwing, they’ll receive a one-year subscription to Puddler magazine, in addition to the resources they get through Project Webfoot.
For an additional $300, you can provide your adopted classes with a wetland field trip. This will allow the sponsored students to experience wetlands and nature in an up-close and personal way. Your sponsorship covers program delivery (in a safe environment) led by an experienced outdoor interpreter or educator, and a subsidy for school bus transportation.
If you are interested in supporting Project Webfoot but unable to sponsor an entire class, you may be interested in contributing to a funding pool to sponsor a class in your province.
In return for your sponsorship, you will be profiled within the class or group’s school, to teachers and to the parents of the students you sponsor. Your support will be recognized in the DUC annual report and on the DUC Web site. On top of that, you’ll have the gratitude of the students and the satisfaction of investing in education and conservation in your community.
Under Project Webfoot, you can sponsor a class and group in one of two ways. You, as the sponsor, can choose the class you’d like to support. Alternatively, DUC can suggest classes or groups for your consideration.
DUC needs your help to put youth in touch with wetlands in a positive and meaningful way. By sponsoring a class or group through Project Webfoot, you’ll be enhancing education in a way that helps students learn while enjoying a hands on field trip to a local wetland.
To sponsor a class or group through Project Webfoot, contact one of DUC's education representatives nearest you or call 1-800-665-DUCK (3825).
