Making Wetland and Environmental Education Possible

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) educates Canada's young people about the values of wetland habitats and encourages them to take action to protect these important natural areas. DUC's education programs are some of the most effective ways to help students learn about wetlands, wildlife and the environment.

Project Webfoot, our Wetland Centres of Excellence, and our many on-line learning resources, including our award-winning Wetlands and the World resources, would not be possible without the many corporations, foundations and individuals across Canada who generously support wetland and environmental education for students in their communities by sponsoring classes.

Sponsors

DUC would like to sincerely thank the following sponsors for their generous support:

Monsanto Canada Inc. has been a major conservation partner with DUC since 1992. Monsanto has also been a major sponsor of Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre's school outreach program and DUC's Project Webfoot program in Winnipeg. In 2008, Monsanto became a sponsor of DUC's Wetland Centre of Excellence program in parts of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, helping selected high schools undertake enrichment studies at local wetlands and mentoring younger students in wetland field trips.

Dow Chemical Canada Inc

Dow Chemical Canada Inc has been a major conservation partner with DUC since 2002. This has included support for wetland habitat projects both in Ontario and Quebec, and as an ongoing sponsor of the Project Webfoot education program. A fund has been established with the contributions made for education by DUC which is used to annually enroll grade 4 classes on a sustaining basis in Elie, MB, Fort Saskatchewan, AB and North Vancouver, BC. Classes receive a kit of learning resources supporting the science curriculum and a field trip to a local wetland.

The Winnipeg Foundation (TWF)

The Winnipeg Foundation (TWF)

The Winnipeg Foundation (TWF), Canada's first community foundation, has provided major support to DUC’s Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre since it’s inception in 1992. In 2004 a new partnership was struck between DUC and TWF to establish the Environmental Education Fund (EEP). This $400,000 matching grant EEP fund, which is also supported by other third party donors, provides annual sustaining revenue to enroll 40 less advantaged Winnipeg grade 4 classes in the Project Webfoot Program. Classes receive an in-class kit of learning resources and an engaging field trip to the Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre.
