Volunteer Work

Becoming a Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) volunteer is a great way to meet people, share your talents, learn new skills, gain experience and have fun while supporting wetland conservation.

By joining a DUC volunteer chapter, you can get involved in:

DUC Dinners and Auctions

DUC has hosted dinner auctions longer than any other non-profit organization in Canada. DUC’s volunteer chapters host annual dinner auctions in their communities across Canada.

With the support of a DUC fundraising manager, who supplies everything from tickets to auction merchandise, volunteers organize and put on these events to raise money for DUC’s important wetland conservation work.

While these events are very successful, DUC needs more volunteers like you to help out. Here are just some of the skills we need to put on a successful dinner event:

  • Event organization and administration
  • Event promotion
  • Entertainment coordination
  • Audio/visual support
  • Event program design and layout
  • Database management
  • Auction and raffle management
  • Ticket sales

Do you have skills or experience in any of these areas? If not, would you like to learn? Volunteering with your local DUC chapter is a great way to share your skills and learn new ones, all while helping to raise money for our vanishing wetlands.

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities with a DUC chapter near you. We're always on the lookout for volunteers that can bring new energy and fresh fundraising ideas to our table. Volunteer with your local DUC chapter today!

Start a Volunteer Chapter

No DUC volunteer chapter in your community? Then take the lead and start one!

Not only does DUC need more volunteers to help out at our existing events, but we need volunteers to start new chapters and hold new fundraising events.

Starting a new DUC volunteer chapter is a great way to have fun, meet people and get more involved in your community, all while helping to raise money for wetland conservation.

Sealed Bid Auction

sealed bid auction easelThe Sealed Bid Auction (SBA) program is a new and exciting fundraiser for DUC. SBA sites are placed in local businesses across Canada. They consist of a bid box and an easel to display a limited edition, framed DUC art print. People make a bid on the print and place it in the box. Once the bidding closes, the print is sold to the highest bidder.

Many SBA sites are volunteer-driven. DUC volunteers help to find potential SBA business sites, maintain relations with business owners/operators, choose and order prints that will be featured, change the display and gather bids.

The result is increased profile and support for DUC in your community, in addition to the much-needed dollars raised.

Youth Education

kids critter dippingDUC works hard to teach today’s young people about the value of wetland habitats. Through programs like Project Webfoot and Greenwing, youth from across Canada are put in touch with wetlands and environmental education. Learn more about how you can help young people learn about wetlands.

Special Events

In addition to the classic "DU Dinner", DUC volunteers often organize and host special events. These include golf tournaments, sporting events (such as clay shoots and fishing derbies), curling bonspiels, etc. We're always looking for new volunteers and innovative fundraising ideas, so join today.

It’s a great way to get out, have fun, meet new people, share your talents and learn new skills, all while raising money for DUC and wetland conservation. The generous support of dedicated Canadians just like you is critical to DUC’s conservation work.

DUC needs your help. Contact DUC us at 1-866-384-DUCK (3825) and volunteer today!
