Education Through Project Webfoot

Program offers environmental education resources for children and youth

Project Webfoot is a program developed to educate today’s students—who will be tomorrow’s decision-makers and conservation leaders—about the tremendous value of wetland habitats. DUC and its partners offer high quality wetland and wildlife education programs, with classroom and field trip opportunities. Bookings are required for most of these programs.

In Alberta, the science curriculum requires that students learn specifically about wetland ecosystems. DUC provides teachers with classroom resources, and access to interpretive centre visits and field trips to local wetlands to gain first-hand experience. DUC’s goal is to bring Project Webfoot to 5,400 Grade 5 classrooms in Alberta over the next six years.

Project Webfoot Resources

DUC’s Project Webfoot program provides classroom resources, speakers and field trips to let young people participate in fun, hands-on activities that teach them about the values of wetland habitats. Let Ducks Unlimited Canada help your class get in touch with free wetland and environmental education opportunities!

Alberta Wetland Education Resources

Ducks Unlimited Canada and Alberta Environment have partnered on the revision of Alberta Environment’s highly popular Webbed Feet Not Required curriculum resource kit. This kit is available to teachers and youth leaders on request and contains lesson and activity plans, a video, posters and other materials. Alberta based materials and resources are available on the Alberta Environment web-site.

Interpretive Centres

Partnered interpretive wetland education facilities that provide a safe, quality learning environment are a large part of DUC’s education program. DUC plans to partner with others to have 20 of these facilities in Alberta over the next six years.

Project Webfoot Sponsors

The Project Webfoot program is made possible through the generosity of the many corporations, foundations, local organization and individuals across Canada that support wetland and environmental education for students in their communities as sponsors. Major donations can help build field stations and support the development of resources. Other donations can help fund conservation education for a school or youth groups.
