On The Ground

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) works with landowners to establish long-term sustainable land use solutions, while at the same time conserving priority habitats.

This is done by encouraging landowners to retain cover on their land, restore wetlands and protect natural lands.

Protecting Your Natural Lands

DUC works with Alberta landowners and land users to protect natural lands and environments. Landowners are stewards of the land and DUC can help them preserve or restore the ecological function of a landscape, for the benefit of all.

Restoring Water On Your Land

Restoring wetlands on farmlands can provide a source of water for livestock as well as forage during times of drought.  Wetlands also absorb and slowly release water after rainfall events, recharging local groundwater supplies.  DUC has a variety of programs to help you bring water back to your land.

Conserving Your Agricultural Land

Ducks Unlimited Canada assists producers in developing sustainable operation changes that help to maintain and protect their important upland habitat (grassland areas).

Growing Winter Cereals

Fall seed crops, such as winter wheat, reduce disturbance on annual cultivated landscapes, providing nesting cover for waterfowl and habitat for other wildlife. The increased biodiversity also benefits crop producers.
