Habitat Reports

DUC biologists in Alberta prepare habitat reports that track conditions and trends

DUC biologists continually monitor wetland and upland habitat conditions in Alberta and across the country. At different times of the year, DUC habitat reports emphasize different types of information to better reflect seasonal trends relating to habitat and bird populations. For example, snow accumulation is assessed in the winter months, runoff conditions are examined in the spring, production is estimated in the summer, and hunting prospects are assessed in the fall.

Habitat conditions throughout the country are compiled into a national report that is available to the public twice per year.
