DUC in B.C.

Ducks Unlimited Canada has been conserving wetlands in BC since 1965.

How We Conserve

In British Columbia, Ducks Unlimited Canada implements different conservation tools depending on the habitat type, habitat threat and land ownership. The type of conservation tool used ensures effective and efficient used of DUC resources.

Our conservation efforts are firmly guided by cutting edge science and environmental and wetland research.

On the Ground

Efforts include wetland/habitat enhancement and restoration activities that are delivered through conservation agreements and On-Farm Planning agreements. Property acquisition and conservation covenants are used in the highest priority areas.

Field Research

Provides DUC with the information necessary to make conservation decision by providing science based data outlining waterfowl needs and associated habitat.

Policy

DUC is able to influence conservation policies at that local and provincial level that are targeted on both private and Crown land.

Education

Programs promote awareness and appreciation of waterfowl and wetlands along with their importance to fish, wildlife and people. DUC is teaching young people, our conservationists of tomorrow, through a variety of formal and informal education opportunities.
