The Green Bylaws Toolkit contains practical examples of bylaw provisions currently in use in B.C., including model provisions for:
- Regional Growth Strategies,

- Sensitive Ecosystems and,
- Other regulatory tools.
The toolkit also includes Wetlands Protection: a Primer for Local Governments and Grasslands Protection: a Primer for Local Governments.
“Conserving natural areas in our communities is not only good ecological stewardship, but helps create more livable and prosperous communities,” stated Les Bogdan, Manager of Provincial Operations - BC, Ducks Unlimited Canada. “Since we began working on this, the response from local government and developers has been terrific. It provides the tools for both to work together towards the conservation of priority ecosystems
The Green Bylaws Toolkit is available now to municipal and regional districts free of charge. Other helpful stewardship and conservation tools and publications are also available.
Wetland Stewardship Partners will be hosting several workshops and information sessions on the toolkit throughout British Columbia.
Created through the Wetland Stewardship Partnership, the toolkit was prepared by the Environmental Law Clinic at the University of Victoria in 2005, and was revised in 2006/07 following extensive consultation and input from local and regional government planning staff.
