Pacific Estuary Conservation Program (PECP)
Ducks Unlimited Canada is a partner in the Pacific Estuary Conservation Program (PECP). The PECP was formed in 1987 by government agencies and non-government organizations in British Columbia to coordinate their efforts in protecting the environmentally valuable estuaries along the rugged BC coast. Designed to work with current landowners to find creative ways to secure estuary land for conservation, the PECP is one of the most successful coastal habitat conservation programs in Canada and is the main delivery program for land securement and enhancement for the Pacific Coast Joint Venture (PCJV) in BC.
PECP partners have successfully secured thousands of hectares of shoreline and intertidal habitats in many of BC’s major estuaries.
