Learn more about Project Webfoot, the international, curriculum-based wetland education program from Ducks Unlimited.Education
Education plays a key role in Ducks Unlimited Canada’s mission to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitat across Canada. While people have been the main cause of wetland loss in Canada, people are also the answer to putting these wetlands back in the landscape and ensuring they remain protected into the future. Effective wetland education programs, delivered in conjunction with the other DUC programs can have a strong and lasting impact on protecting Canada’s wetland heritage.
The main focus of the Education program in Nova Scotia is Project Webfoot. Project Webfoot, formerly the Adopt-a-class program, is used to educate young people, about the importance of wetlands and show the conservation leaders of tomorrow the positive things they can do to help protect these habitats. This important program is sponsored through local communities, organizations, individuals and government funding. The program in Nova Scotia concentrates on grade 4 classes, where curriculum linkages are strongest.
