Mapping using Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
GIS is a computer-based system that is used to manage, analyze and share geographic data. GIS provides maps that display different geographic layers, giving the user a better understanding of how the geography in a particular area interrelates.
GIS is part of a decision support system that helps DUC direct conservation resources to the areas where they will have the biggest impact. DUC has also been able to strengthen relationships with partners by sharing GIS information and by working on joint GIS projects.
