What
is the Manitoba Purple Loosestrife Project (MPLP)?
Initiated in 1992, the Manitoba Purple Loosestrife Project (MPLP)
is a nonprofit coalition between Agriculture
Canada, City of Winnipeg Parks and Open Spaces, Canadian
Wildlife Service, Ducks
Unlimited Canada, Manitoba
Conservation (environment and wildlife branches), Manitoba
Agriculture, The Manitoba
Naturalists Society, the Manitoba Weed Supervisors Association
and Delta
Waterfowl and Wetlands.
The project contains four broad objectives:
- Community education
- Habitat restoration campaigns
- Loosestrife mapping and monitoring
- Delivery of action-oriented, sustainable management strategies
