Take Action to Help Wetlands!

Become a Wetland Hero . . . like these young people from across Canada who are undertaking action projects and playing an important role in protecting wetlands for wildlife and people in their local community.

Secondary school students at many of DUC - recognized Wetland Centres of Excellence act as mentors leading field trips for local grade 4 classes.

You can convey your concerns to others through letters like this one by a Grade 4 class, or through a petition around a specific issue, or through a face-to-face meeting, or on the Net (Facebook, blogs, etc.)

Improve a local wetland.

Learn more about how you can organize a cleanup, help improve habitat for ducks and other wildlife or help restore a local wetland.

Sometimes students attend public meetings or reach out to the media to express their concerns about an issue in their local community.

You may be able to do your own science-based research and share your data with researchers through such programs as FrogWatch, Turtle Tally and the Marsh Monitoring program.

Here are some ideas on how you can help researchers learn more about wetlands.

You can raise funds for you own project or to support a conservation project in your community. You may also want to support the work of an organization doing valuable conservation work, such as Ducks Unlimited Canada.

Whether you are one person, a group of friends, a class, club or school, we would like to recognize your efforts. Tell us about your activities and let us acknowledge you as one of Canada's Wetland Heroes. Use this form or email us at project_webfoot@ducks.ca to tell us about your activities.
