Artist Benefits
Ducks Unlimited Canada’s (DUC) National Art Portfolio (NAP) raises money for wetland conservation. But wetlands are not the only benefactors of the program. The NAP also offers many benefits for artists.
Honorariums
The Artist of the Year retains their original and receives an honorarium of $5,000.
Any NAP artist who has been selected previously and is returning to the NAP
will achieve Alumni status and recieve a $1,000 honorarium per image selected
in subsequent NAPs. The Waterfowl Stamp and Print Artist receives a $1,000 honorarium.
Exposure
NAP artists and their artwork have the potential to receive broad exposure through DUC.
- NAP artwork is featured at over 500 fundraising events throughout Canada
- this same artwork is also found at more than 3,000 Sealed Bid Auction (SBA) sites across the country
- each year, the National Artist of the Year is profiled in Conservator, DUC’s national member magazine
- NAP artists are listed on DUC’s website
- NAP art prints are featured in DUC’s event merchandise catalogue (which goes out to over 500 DUC volunteer chapters)
In addition, there is also potential for artist profile through DUC’s provincial volunteer newsletters and local media opportunities.
Artist’s Proofs
Each artist selected for the NAP receives special “artist’s proofs”. These are high-quality lithographic prints of their artwork, which artists can sell one year after the DUC fundraising year has begun.
