Learn About Wetlands at Our Interpretive Centres

One of the keys to conserving wetlands and their associated habitats in Canada is teaching people about the values and benefits of these ecosystems. A great way for people to learn about wetlands is to visit one of Ducks Unlimited Canada’s (DUC) interpretive centres!

These learning facilities have friendly, knowledgeable interpreters that guide visitors as they explore the wonderful world of wetlands!

Oak Hammock Marsh, Manitoba

Fredericton Conservation Centre, New Brunswick

Located on the banks of the beautiful St. John’s River in Fredericton, New Brunswick, DUC’s Fredericton Conservation Centre is full of exhibits and displays to teach visitors about wetlands. The Fredericton Conservation Centre is a great place to visit, with spectacular views of wildlife and the city of Fredericton!

Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre, Nova Scotia

Located at the Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park in Nova Scotia, the Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre ) represents a partnership between DUC and the Province of Nova Scotia. Visitors can explore local wetlands through interactive displays or hike the 1.5km wheel-chair accessible trail to explore the St. Andrew’s Marsh.  A visit to the Wildlife Park itself offers a chance to view wetland and other  Canadian wildlife up close.

Bow Habitat Station, Alberta  

Bow Habitat Station offers a unique setting where you can learn about and explore Alberta's natural environment. Located in the heart of Calgary, Bow Habitat Station is made up of a visitor's centre, the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery, and the Pearce Estate Park Interpretive Wetland. DUC joins with the Alberta Government, City of Calgary and corporate partners in supporting the Bow Habitat Station.

George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary, British Columbia 

One of the top ten birding sites in Canada, the Reifel Sanctuary offers visitors the chance to explore coastal wetlands and their inhabitants. Numerous hiking trails and viewing towers offer visitors excellent opportunities to explore nature. The Sanctuary is managed by the British Columbia Waterfowl Society (BCWS) and it was the first Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) conservation project in BC. It represents an enduring coastal partnership between DUC, Federal and Provincial governments, BCWS, and the Reifel family.
