Nestboxes and Bat Boxes—Giving Nature a Helping Hand

Birds and other animals are remarkably adept at building their own nests. Still, sometimes they need a helping hand to find a home. That’s why Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) has resources to help you build a nestbox or bat box for wildlife in your area!

Nestboxes and batboxes are wooden structures in which birds, ducks and bats can build their homes and raise their young. They provide wildlife with a safe place to stay. What’s more, building these boxes is a great way to get outdoors while giving Mother Nature a helping hand!

Duck nest boxes make great homes for wood ducks, Barrow's goldeneyes, common goldeneyes, hooded mergansers, common mergansers, buffleheads and some owl species.

Bat boxes are perfect for these winged mammals. It’s like your very own bat cave! These instructions are provided courtesy of Bat Conservation International.
