DUC was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of champion Greenwing member Danielle Lewis of Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
Danielle was selected as the B.C. representative at the 2000 Great Greenwing Adventure and was one of the top campers that year. She was also a valued DUC volunteer and helped mentor young children enrolled in the Project Webfoot program. Her many accomplishments were but a glimpse of the tremendous potential she held to make a difference in the world as a conservationist.
In her honour, DUC acknowledges the top campers at the annual Great Greenwing Adventure with the Danielle Lewis Greenwing Award, so that she can continue to be an inspiration to all
Fun and Learning at the Great Greenwing Adventure 
Ten lucky teens from across Canada will be sponsored by DUC to spend August 8-14, 2009 at Oak Hammock Marsh, Manitoba. Throughout the action-packed week, they’ll meet new friends and participate in exciting activities like duck and songbird banding, radio telemetry, wilderness survival, camping, canoeing, fishing and much more.
Applications for the 2009 Great Greenwing Adventure are now closed. Check back in February to apply for the 2010 Great Greenwing Adventure.
Environment-savvy teens will love working with DUC’s scientists and interpreters to learn more about wetlands and the waterfowl and other wildlife that depend on them. Plus, the hands-on activities offer a fun way to learn new skills while nurturing an appreciation for conservation.
