Interactions and Ecosystems
Project Webfoot Free Lesson Plans for Middle School Teachers
For grade 7 and 8 classes, Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) has developed the wetland and environmental education unit Interactions and Ecosystems (Wetland Ecosystems II).
- Download the teacher and student package (Wetland Ecosystems II) in English or French. You can also purchase the full-colour, professionally-bound lesson plans at the Marsh Shop for a minimal fee.
With this unit, you’ll receive a 27-page teacher’s guide with seven lesson plans and four field activities, along with a companion student journal. These resources will assist educators in the presentation of cross-curricular science material and evaluation of student learning.
The lessons focus on wetland types, energy pyramids, abiotic factors, feeding adaptations and organism relationships, population effects, human interventions and more.
Interactions and Ecosystems (Wetland Ecosystems II) includes a strong field component. This ‘up-close and personal’ experience with a local wetland will build on the lessons and teach students first hand about sampling techniques, observation, teamwork, safety procedures, data analysis, experimentation and use of technology.
This publication is a great way to help your grade 7-8 class learn about science and wetland conservation! This unit is provided to you absolutely free of charge.
