Ducks Unlimited Conservation Centre

DUCCThe Ducks Unlimited Conservation Centre plays a crucial role in educating people of all ages about the values of wetlands to wildlife and society. The Centre provides an exciting, educational environment for the public as they learn how important it is to conserve New Brunswick’s wetlands for future generations to enjoy.

Come in and enjoy the many exhibits in the display hall, designed to inform visitors about the wonders that reside in wetlands and how we may be better stewards to these special places. Our friendly staff are more than happy to answer any questions you have regarding wetlands and Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC). Located on the north banks of the Saint John River, our deck offers the perfect spot to view the city of Fredericton along with glimpses of waterfowl, osprey, and bald eagles. The Conservation Centre opened its doors in June 1996, and since that time has hosted over 10,000 visitors.

When you visit the Conservation Centre, take some time to enjoy the view of the Saint John River from the back deck, then come inside and see the beautiful local wood used throughout the building. Unique wood includes elm flooring (from trees that were felled due to Dutch Elm disease) donated by the City of Fredericton and the City of Windsor, N.S. Bird’s Eye Maple, confiscated by the Province of New Brunswick, trims areas around the main lobby and the front door.

Other unique features include the antique furniture in the building donated by companies such as Irving Oil and NB Tel. The stonework on the outside of the Conservation Centre is sandstone from the Memramcook area. The unique buff-coloured sandstone helps the building achieve one of its goals, which is to blend into the community. You can get here by car, bus, foot and boat! However you get here, come in and visit and discover more about our wetlands!

Open year round (excluding holidays): Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Conservation Centre is also available for weddings and meetings. Please visit us for more information on wedding facility rentals or read more here if you are interested in booking the building for a meeting.
