The Opportunity

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), one of Canada’s leading conservation organizations is looking for a mature professional to perform a wide variety of accounting and administrative duties, requiring initiative and organization.

As a support of the provincial management team, you will provide leadership for all administrative processes in the province and ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to.

In this position, you will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of the annual financial plan as well as the quarterly financial reporting, analysis and year-end audit requirements, including, but not limited to:

  • Analyzing revenue and expenditures, monitor projects and funding agreements
  • Analyzing projects for efficiency and effectiveness in conjunction with Conservation and Finance leaders
  • Ensuring the timely, accurate and effective entry of information in the financial systems (such as invoicing, contracts, timesheets, travel expenses, acres, journal entries, accruals and projections).
  • Supporting management in maintaining external funding partnerships and monitoring contracts for compliance
  • Ensuring compliance with provincial taxation – payment and reporting process with assistance from Head of Finance or head office
  • Oversee office administration to ensure effective and efficient implementation of general office procedures and operation

This position will be based from our office in Quebec, QC.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of directly related accounting experience
  • Diploma in Accounting, Commerce or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and French
  • Strong business acumen and previous experience preparing budgets and financial reports, analyzing and monitoring expenditures.
  • Proven ability to motivate, develop, mentor and empower employees and peers.
  • Proven track record of an ability to work cross-functionally and foster key business relationships.
  • Sound judgment with strong critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional time management skills with a capacity to handle a high-volume workload and meet deadlines
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to track, analyze and report on projects and programs with complex funding arrangements is an asset.
  • Previous experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a definite asset.
  • Having a passion for conservation, the environment or the outdoors would be a definite asset; experience in the non-profit and/or environmental conservation sectors would also be an asset.
  • Ability to travel within the country.
