Chief Executive Officer
If you are passionate about the natural world, if you want to help lead the country in building a resilient green economy, and if you believe wetland and waterfowl conservation is key to a prosperous future, you’ve come to the right place.
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is a national charity dedicated to conserving wetlands and other natural areas. It’s a team of conservationists devoted to protecting our land, water and wildlife. Known as a solutions provider that helps Canadians live and work sustainably, DUC is a trusted partner that delivers impactful on-the-ground habitat projects from coast to coast to coast. With more than 80 years of history and success, DUC is one of the largest and longest-standing conservation organizations in North America. Due to the inherent nature of migratory waterfowl, DUC has a continental perspective. Ducks Unlimited Canada works closely with its sister organizations: Ducks Unlimited Inc. in the U.S. and Ducks Unlimited de Mexico.
As CEO, you will lead a nation-wide team of approximately 400 staff and 4,000 volunteers. You will help foster a strong and inclusive work environment where diversity flourishes and all are empowered to showcase their unique backgrounds, skills, experiences and perspectives. You will oversee all DUC business operations including science, habitat conservation, fundraising, education, communications and marketing as well as political advocacy efforts.
Reporting to a highly committed Board of Directors, you will strategize, advocate, inspire and influence. You will be the strong voice that continues positioning DUC as an effective change agent. Diverse groups of donors and partners, as well as all levels of government, will seek your expert guidance and strategic input on current and future environmental issues.
As the ideal candidate, you will be a seasoned executive who combines three key elements: an inspiring and charismatic ‘presence’ allowing you to create outstanding relationships and forge productive partnerships; strong, astute business leadership skills making you capable of running a large, complex, national organization; a passion for conservation and the outdoors positioning you as a credible and impactful representative nationally and internationally.
As the successful candidate, you may choose to work from DUC’s national office outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba or from another location in Canada with regular travel to the national office. This is a unique opportunity to serve alongside top officials and key decision makers on the international stage, transforming the role and impact of conservation in the 21st century.
