The Opportunity
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), one of Canada’s leading conservation organizations, is looking for a driven knowledgeable Compensation Specialist to join our team!
Reporting to the Director of HR, you will be responsible for providing coaching and guidance on the compensation and classification programs.
This position is responsible for developing compensation policies, practices, and innovative solutions in support of Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC)’s compensation philosophy including but not limited to:
Compensation Program
- Maintaining the compensation portfolio including salary structures and compensation materials/tools.
- Coordinating external compensation reviews with external consultants and develops recommendations for implementation.
- Administering the annual merit process including coordinating all communication, system requirements, and reporting.
Job Evaluation Program
- Coordinating the job evaluation program including determining of position classifications, administering of position levels, and maintaining repository of position and evaluation factors.
- Along with the HR Business Partners, support management in the development of job descriptions and delivers job description training as needed.
Payroll and Benefits Administration
- Providing leadership and guidance to the Payroll & Benefits Administrator as it relates to a monthly payroll function
- Ensuring coverage and backup to payroll function during periods of high-volume
Position Management and Control
- Developing processes to support position management in alignment with Finance’s position control.
HR Support
- Working with the HR Coordinator, provides data analytics on all compensation & job evaluation activities
- Creating tools and education material to ensure processes are transparent and easily understood by staff and management.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience directly related to compensation and job evaluation is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources / business. Equivalency of education and experience will be considered.
- CCP designation is an asset. Compensation Analyst credential is also an asset.
- Solid understanding of compensation options in support of a Total Rewards Program.
- Experience as a HR Business Partner/Generalist is an asset.
- Experience in salary structures, job evaluation methodology, and compensation surveys.
- Experience in using Excel (Intermediate level) is required.
- Proficient in using HRIS, payroll systems and in managing benefit programs.
- Experience using Hay Methodology for job evaluation an asset.
- Knowledge of DB/DC pension administration.
- Detail-oriented, adaptable to change and capable of prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound judgement, high level of integrity, able to keep confidential information secure.
- Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
- The successful candidate will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.
