Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), a leader in Canadian habitat conservation, is looking for a Manager of Provincial Operations (MPO) to lead our Quebec conservation team of 16 staff.
In Quebec, DUC has an integrated strategy for wetland conservation that is adapted to the specific needs of each administrative region. This includes, among other things, the constant updating of protection and restoration actions carried out, as well as the continuation of the wetland mapping program, which is a priority in Quebec and a DUC-Quebec expertise, while ensuring that policies are effective for wetland conservation. In Quebec, Ducks Unlimited Canada is a major ally for governments, municipalities, industries and environmental groups. Over the 40 years of intervention in Quebec, the Company has developed a unique expertise in environmental conservation.
Based in Quebec City and reporting to the Director of Regional Operations, the Manager of Provincial Operations (MPO) is primarily responsible for ensuring that Ducks Unlimited Canada’s orientations and vision are realized within his or her territory, ensuring that all activities are mission-oriented. The MPO will ensure the sound strategic and operational management of the organization, including the implementation of the provincial wetland policy, conservation, communication and education programs and revenue generation.
Responsibilities also include maintaining key relationships within DUC and in the public and private sectors, enhancing the organization’s outreach by taking on a strategic and influential role, being aware of issues that may have an impact on the region, and being present and proactive in the community.
In addition, you are responsible for liaising with regional and national staff, as well as with provincial directors and main volunteers. You will collaborate with the regional team in the development of strategic initiatives and deliver their programs as part of a set of annual objectives. MPOs are members of the regional management team that is responsible for bringing together its processes.

- An undergraduate degree with a strong conservation focus and a background in an appropriate discipline.
- Strong budget and project management skills.
- Experience supervising a team of multi-disciplinary professionals.
- Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Familiarity with the non-profit or environmental conservation sectors are assets.
A minimum of eight years of experience in conservation program delivery, revenue generation and working with partners, along with a demonstrated ability to manage and motivate staff, make you the ideal candidate for this position.
