Who are we?
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is a science-based conservation organization. The Institute for Wetland and Waterfowl Research (IWWR) is the scientific research arm of DUC. Its respected team of biologists finds answers to important environmental questions and establishes the value of wetlands to society.
What do we do?
IWWR focuses on problems facing North America’s waterfowl. IWWR connects the vast experience DUC has in conservation management with sound science. By bringing these two parts together, DUC can quickly transfer new science-based information into on-the-ground solutions to conservation programs, and continually adapt programs for better efficiency and results.
Over the past 20 years, IWWR has led or participated in nearly 300 studies throughout North America, while helping train graduate students from over 40 universities, and collaborating with more than 45 external research agencies.
IWWR provides leadership in waterfowl and wetland conservation through its:
- 1. Science Team
- 2. Research Projects
- Part of IWWR’s mandate is performing imaginative and visionary research for Ducks Unlimited Canada. Research projects are continually being developed and staged all over Canada and the United States. Here is a snapshot of some of our current projects.
- 3. Graduate Fellowships
- DUC supports a number of graduate students annually as they pursue important research across the continent. Read about some of the talented young scientists DUC currently supports.
