Invasive Species Management in Ontario

We use our expertise in wetland habitat and restoration to protect Ontario's vital ecosystems from the threat of invasive species.

What we are doing to fight Invasive Species in Ontario

Invasive species pose a serious threat to Ontario’s wetlands and natural spaces, but Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is taking innovative action.

We’re using cutting-edge drone and AI technology to detect and remove invasive plants like European Water Chestnut with greater efficiency and less disruption to sensitive ecosystems. At the same time, we’re partnering with leading research institutions to explore biological control methods for invasive Phragmites—one of the most aggressive plant invaders in Canada. Through science, technology, and collaboration, we’re developing smarter, more effective solutions to protect Ontario’s wetlands from invasive species.
